Altitude@ is an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students who are at universities not directly affiliated with a medical school. The one-on-one mentorship program between undergraduate students and medical students is now present at all universities in Ontario who are affiliated with a medical school. However, we believe that students from underrepresented populations at ANY Ontario university should have access to more information regarding what it means to be a healthcare professional and what steps can help you achieve your goal.

Due to the distance barrier we cannot offer one-on-one sessions. Instead we have interactive sessions that a medical student presents on different aspects of medicine and other health care professions to undergraduate students interesting in pursuing this type of a career. These sessions involved information about requirements for schools, tips on improving study habits, and enhancing extracurricular experience through volunteer and research.

Description of Sessions

Altitude@ will deliver 2 different sessions per academic year, presented by medical students. They will include examples from their experience and also be available to answer your questions at the end.

While last year the program ran at only one university, this year we have expended to four. Therefore, the participating schools this year will be York University, Ryerson University, Northern Ontario School of Medicine’s Laurentian University Campus and Guelph University.

To attend, all you need to do is register at this link.

Please make sure to complete the survey at the end so that we can incorporate your feedback in next year’s presentations.
